Welcome to the Department of Sanskrit!

          Department of Sanskrit is established in 1940. Renowned person late Shri Panse Govind Madhav headed the department from 1940 to 1971. Respected Smt. Sheela Mistry headed the department from 1971 to 2008 with the same glory. Since 2010 till the date Miss Reva Kulkarni is working as head of the department. The department is engaged in teaching and research activities related to Sanskrit literature.
          The motto of Sanskrit department is विद्या: समस्ता: संस्कृतमया: भवन्तु Sanskrit should be in all streams of education and earning sources of society. So the researches of the department aim to find out the needful solutions on daily problems and take effort to prove the productivity of the subject. Till the date two useful and easily usable products are introduced by the department through researches. The department works at grass root level to seed Sanskrit into the society. The department plans to develop entrepreneurships through Sanskrit and wish to rise as Sanskrit based business model.
          Various certificate courses approved by Solapur University, Solapur and D.B.F. Dayanand College of Arts and Science, Solapur are run by the department.
          Department of Sanskrit has successfully completed its major research project namely ‘Utility of Ancient Sanskrit Educational system to increase intellectual capacity’ granted by UGC in August 2014. A helpful, applicable and learner’s problem oriented teaching- learning module is developed through the said research. The department participates in enriching of college library. ICT is used as teaching aid. The app Google classroom is used to assign lectures, question banks to the students from our college and from other colleges also. Slow learners are really get benefited by this activity.

• The Department acts as a platform for converting knowledge of Sanskrit into wealth for new generation of scholars in Sanskrit and Science.

Mission Statement:

• To introduce the Ancient Indian knowledge systems in the light of the current knowledge systems.
• To explore Ancient Sanskrit based arts and sciences with a modern perspective without giving up Sanskrit language.
• To empower learners in achieving their professional goals.
