About Economics Department

The Department of Economics is established in 1943. Mr. V. P. Pethe, Miss S. K. Vedpathak, Mr. Narsingrao, Dr. Miss L. K. Kulkarni and Mr. L. G. Bapat were the eminent teacher-scholars in the department. The Department offers subject of Economics for B.A. part I, II and III classes. The Department is also having Post graduate section under which M.A. I and II classes are conducted. The Department is recognized as a Research Centre for Ph.D. in Economics by Solapur University, Solapur. Dr. B. H. Damji and Dr. Y. D. Pujari are the recognized guides for the Ph.D. In all 06 students have been awarded Ph.D. and 04 students are pursuing their research work under the guidance of Dr. B. H. Damji. Total 03 students are working for Ph.D. under the guidance of Dr. Y. D. Pujari. Moreover, the Department has started a Certificate Course in Stock Market which is recognized by Solapur University. The Certificate Course in Basic Economics and Certificate Course in Advanced Banking are the other courses which are run by the Department. The Department has been organizing Elocution Competition sponsored by Forum of Free Enterprise, Mumbai since last 28 years. The Department organizes Seminars every year with the sponsorship of Consumer Guidance Society of India (Mumbai), BSE (Mumbai), Lotus Knowledge Wealth (Mumbai).
