About History Department
Established in 1939 and PG program introduced in 1945,the History Department of D. B. F. Dayanand College of Arts & Science is one of the oldest departments with one full-time teachers and Five CHB teachers. The department has a glorious tradition of eminent and scholar teachers of History like Dr. S.R. Sharma, Dr. A.R. Kulkarni, Prof. S.R. Phadke, Dr. Mrs. L.P. Akalujkar, Mr. B.R. Gaikwad and Mr. M.M. Maske. The department offers special History course at B.A. and entire History at M.A. The department runs a short-term course Ancient Scripts & Applied Sanskrit & Historical Tourism affiliated to Solapur University, Solapur under Skill Development Program. The Department introduced College oriented courses in Tour Management and Introduction to Museum & Museology. The department of History has been recognized as a research centre by Solapur University from 2011. Dr. R. N. Jadhav, Assistant Professor I/C HOD History , has been recognized as research guide by Solapur University, Solapur and Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapith, Pune. The department holds an excellent record of university rankers, meritorious students and more than 30 NET/SET qualified students. The department of History has Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati Museum with 50 Stone statues, Manuscripts, Coins, Swords, Stone Age tools, Weapons, Pottery, Hero stones, Rare Books and Terracotta Objects. The eminent personalities like as Padambhushan Hon’ble Punam Suriji, President of DAV CMC New Delhi, Hon’ble. Sushilkumarji Shind,ex-union power minister,Hon’le prof.Dr. Vidysagarrao, Vice cancller of SRT University Nanded,Hon’le.Dr.N.N.Maldar,Ex Vice canceller of Solapur university, solapur Hon’le.Dr.Iresh Swami ,Ex Vice canceller,solapur university, solapur,Hon’le.Dr.Vasant Shinde,Vice canceller Of Deccan University Pune,Hon’le.Dr.Manikrao Salunkhe,Vice canceller of central university of Rajsthan visited to Maharshi Dayanand Sarswati Museum. The Department organized two international, one national, two state level and one students’ history conference in the college.
The best achievement of department is an award from Govt. of Maharashtra for active Participation in the Gad Swachhata Abiyan 2016-2017. The Department is also reputed for discovery of chalakyan period temples at Hattarsang Kudal Tal: South Solapur, Dist. Solapur.

Research Facilities
The Botany department is a recognized research centre by Solapur University, Solapur. Co-ordinator of P.G. Department of Botany, Dr. M.N. Jagtap was recognized research guide.
