About Zoology Department

The department of Zoology of D.B.F. Dayanand College of Arts and Science, Solapur was established in 1940 with a special ambition to pursue high level teaching methodologies to deliver Zoology terminologies in a better way. The department has a glorious tradition of eminent and scholar teachers of Zoology like Shri Shreenivasan, Dr S.B. Kulkarni, Dr. V.D. Arbale, Dr. M. Y. Madwanna, etc.,
The department runs under graduate program as well as post graduate program in Zoology. The department has been recognized as a research centrefor Zoology and Biotechnology by Solapur University. Total 19 Students registered Ph.D. (Zoology-10; Biotechnology- 09) out of which six Zoology students awarded their Ph.D. All faculty members are Ph.D. holders, experienced and recognized as post graduate teachers and three as Research Guide by Solapur University. Out of which one faculty member having Research guide in three subject : Zoology, Biotechnology and Environmental Science. Three research projects to its credit sanctioned by UGC and other funding agencies. All faculty members publish the research work in reputed National and International journals. The department organizes different National/State/University level conferences, workshops and seminars. The department has active MoU’s and linkages with many reputed Institutes and Industry. The department always tries to develop overall personality of students by conducting various student-centric activities frequently.
The department also conducts one University Affiliated Certificate Course and one College Offered Certificate Course for skill devolvement of the students.
